***PRESS RELEASE*** – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

San Francisco, CA – The Law Office of Mayor Joseph L. Alioto and Angela Alioto are thrilled to announce that trial attorney Jordanna G. Thigpen will serve Of Counsel to the firm, which specializes in representing plaintiffs in civil rights and discrimination cases.

“Jordanna has a stellar reputation as a tenacious advocate with exceptional courtroom presence, and she has spent her entire career in the private sector representing plaintiffs who have been bullied and taken advantage of by powerful corporations and individuals,” said Angela Alioto. “She is the rare type of litigator who can try any case – and someone who truly loves her work and sees it as an honor and a privilege to use the law in service of others.”

A graduate of U.C. Davis and the University of San Francisco School of Law, Ms. Thigpen clerked for the Hon. Ronald Evans Quidachay (Ret.) of the San Francisco Superior Court, and worked as Executive Director for the San Francisco Taxi Commission while overseeing its merger with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency. Working in the private sector since 2009, she has tried multiple complex civil cases through to verdict, including a recent victory in San Diego Superior Court in which, as first chair, she led her trial team to achieve a $17.3 million verdict and attorneys’ fees award against The Coca-Cola Company and Monster Energy Company. She serves in a statewide role as a Member of the California Lawyers Association’s Litigation Section Executive Committee.

Ms. Thigpen’s work for the firm has already begun with the August 3, 2020 filing of Dillard, et al. v. The City and County of San Francisco, et al., a complaint for egregious race discrimination suffered by two Black plaintiffs in their employment at the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department. “Discrimination is intolerable anywhere, but particularly by government actors,” said Ms. Thigpen of the case. “We have an absolute obligation to ensure that our public employees receive the full benefit of the laws that were designed to protect against the injustice that is racial animus. Angela has spent her life standing for justice and I am honored to stand beside her to vindicate the rights of our clients.”

Ms. Thigpen will continue as a Principal of Thigpen Legal, P.C., where she practices litigation, in addition to her new role.
